Me, Trying To Text With My Arms Full |
I really hate to put this update on my puppy blog, because I was just hoping and hoping that I was wrong thinking that our Ginger wouldn't be having puppies. She was getting so much bigger, and she had starting filling-up with milk and it was all on schedule. Ginger is still a little chubby, but the milk gradually has gone away. Our Ginger Heeler has had a false pregnancy.
Our vet had told us even though I missed the signs that she had come into heat (she was only 9 months old) that the fact that this playful puppy stood for our new sire, Duelly, Ginger was going to have puppies on June 13th. My phone call just a couple weeks ago to our vet was sad news for me. The news to all of you that I have on a waiting list even sadder. I need to post and let you know that we won't be having puppies this summer.

This is Turbo (The Other Sire In Darby's Life) |

This is Ginger's Sire |
I know how false pregnancies happen, we've had a few with our young dairy goats, it's actually rare. In somewhat recent years one of our yearlings does that had been covered and showed all the signs of pregnancy, actually never carried but she freshened and we milked her out for about a month and then let her dry-up. She doesn't have a fertility problem and she's produced over a dozen kids since we've had her, but in this particular doe... her hormones, hadn't completely matured, and it surely tricked mother nature.
There's good news in this. The heat of our summer in Santa Paula can be almost unbearable and even though we don't have fleas now the combination of flies and fleas, and puppies nursing when it's so hot could make any new, young mother dog, miserable. So... we're just going to wait a couple months. I do want to breed both Darby and Ginger again and work toward having some Fall puppies. The puppies come fast, in just a 60-64 days. I count 64 and I've been right on schedule at least twice. We all will be looking for a heat cycle around the middle or late August, we don't use hormones to force a heat cycle.
I will be better at posting updates! I didn't want to post this on my blog because I was so disappointed. I just kept hoping it was a mistake. June 13th has how now passed. I NEED to let all that were waiting on a puppy know that we're going to start over. Ginger is absolutely a beautiful dog. She has perfect conformation and is happy, kind, and obedient... even without a lot of training. She instinctively wants to please, everyone! Except, maybe the cats and one "Prissy Kitty" that teases her.
Please leave me a comment if you're still interested in waiting for the puppies. Then just email me your phone number and what color you would prefer and also if you're interested in a male and female. I'll just take all the phone calls, comments, and email in order received and I will email you and get your phone number. Also, your name, number and email can be written in my puppy contact journal. My email is: susankaylazenby@gmail.com I know it doesn't show-up on mobile devices. My phone number is: 805-794-4013 The puppies are $350.00 with a $100 deposit. If you would like the tail docked the deposit would need to be in before I take them to the vet at three days old; our new baby check-up time.
