Still, I Don’t Know What I’m Doing

I’m trying-out Microsoft Live Writer to help me blog. Windows 8 has disabled Google blog posts. It’s a pain to write for me, since I’m so accustomed to the other way which seemed to be right behind my blog. I know it’s not, but this is offline.
I can only think this is like helping our Laney, momma dog deliver puppies from our house and “wifi” my help from across our driveway to my daughter’s house. Virtual dog-sitting. I won’t be doing that, but writing on this blog seems completely strange.

The puppies STILL haven’t been born! My daughter Marnie, took Laney out for the afternoon today for some exercise. Laney was super active and rolled-around, happily playing with her kids.

The Dog Lunge Line and lunge whip

Recently, with Duelly running like his tail is on fire; I started using our horses' lunge-line and whip. The whip is used to "push" the dogs out and I use the word, "Out, Out!" to make sure I get space. When I want a sheep or goat inside a gate, I just say, "Get the goat or get the sheep." The command should be one word, but I've been doing this for so long, if I say sheep and we're moving goats, the dogs look at me like I've lost my mind. I also have the sheep and goats on lunge-lines when training. We do get run-aways (livestock) and the busy road and a cliff are not too far from our house. All together this works great. I've had a lot of success in training the dogs to heel livestock. Really, they teach themselves. Too bad I don't have ducks to start them--the best herd-training. And when you move-on up...your chickens and ducks are safe.

Our new sire produces tri-colored merle puppies and if it happens that a dark red is desired, we have had them, but eventually some dark blue seems to come-in as they get older. The "Duelly"dogs have a well-proportioned shorter body, stocky and really, really strong.

Turbo's our other sire that we use and lives in Piru, typically gives us 50% red merle puppies and very large ears. They have the red-heeler body-style with longer legs and body and a bit of a longer snout. Yep, they look just like the Dingo picture at every "Outback Resturant."

Heelers are fun, intense, and both sires produce excellent proportioned dogs.
